Camels Back Duathalon

Well I finally did it. I ran a marathon. It was only a half marathon but that is good enough for me. I look horrible in these photos but it was all I had. They were taken right after the race.

It was pretty tough to do it but I got through. I made 4Th place in my division which really doesn't say much because there were only like 7 or 8 people in it. My sister Katie made 3rd place and received a ribbon.

I tell you what, it is so important to prepare for a race by eating the right foods and the right amount of water. I was not careful and did not prepare in the right way which made me have a really hard time running. I should have been able to do much better but because the wrong foods were in my system they really slowed me down. I was behind Katie probably a half a mile but towards the end of the biking I was able to catch up with her. I feel that I am pretty good at the biking part and that was the most enjoyable part of the race for me. I slowed back down when we did the running again but Katie decided to help me finish out the race by sticking by me and telling me I could do it. Katie finished a second before me and we gave each other a high five crossing over the finish line.

I will definitely do this again. Next time I will be a little more careful about preparing for it though. It was sooo worth it. It made me feel great. The next one I am going to try to prepare for is the Why Don't You Try Triathlon. I just need to find a place to practice the swimming part.

Congatulations! What an impressive accomplishment! That is way more than I would ever desire to attempt again in my life. I once considered myself an athlete, but now I'm just an old fart. I am at peace with that realization, too. But you keep it up! You guys look great!

Good job Sherri! So you ran a half marathon and then you went on to bike? Am I understanding that right? That is impressive! Good job!
Also, I just saw the posts of Isaac and Cameron. How cute! I love that you got a picture of the two of them together in spidey suits. I might have to steal that picture. Isaac had a great day with Cameron and has mentioned him several times since being here.
Keep up the running! Good job.

The duathalon was a 2k then a 10 mile bike ride and then another
2k. So with all of that together is is pretty much a half marathon distance. I definitely could not have ran a half marathon and then do a 10 mile bike ride, especially since the bike was up a pretty high incline most of the way. I hope I can keep going with all of this though.
